The latest version of Mozilla’s Firefox browser has been taken offline after a security vulnerability was discovered.
Users who had upgraded to version 16 were advised to downgrade to the previous safe release until Firefox developers released a fix. The vulnerability allowed “a malicious site to potentially determine which websites users have visited”, Mozilla said.
Microsoft has issued a security advisory urging all users to install an update that disables the Sidebar and Gadgets features on Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating systems due to a potential security vulnerability.
Social network site LinkedIn has confirmed that some 6.4 million password have been released onto the internet.
Hackers have posted a file containing the encrypted passwords onto a Russian web forum, and have invited the hacker community to help with the decryption.
